5 Reasons You Feel Stuck & How To Change It
So often, we look around and see the world around us moving and shifting in new cycles constantly, and then we see ourselves in this habitual state of still and same-ness.
Here are 5 ways you have made yourself feel ‘stuck’ and how to change it.
- You stopped doing things for the first time. When is the last time you did something for the first time? We are human and we go where our comfort is. Especially if you struggle with anxiety, we go wherever we feel the safest. However, we tend to go back to things that no longer fit us. This is one sure-fire way to always feel stuck in life, because in turn, choosing not to grow your surroundings with your own personal growth is like wearing the same clothes from when you were five years old and wondering why they don’t fit anymore. You can and will outgrow people and your surroundings. You have to accept that and find new ones that actually fit where you are now.
- You stopped looking for reasons to be happy. We’ve convinced ourselves that if we are not happy, it has nothing to do with ourselves, and everything to do with everyone else. In reality, It’s the exact opposite. While we play the blame game, we stop growing away from things that made us miserable and instead, we go back to ways that never really worked for us in the first place. Start looking for the new things that bring you joy and find more of that in your life.
- You’ve associated failure with rejection. Failure and rejection are simply not the same thing. Rejection is the act of dissmissing something, while failure is just the lack of success. Most of the time, rejection is final, and failure is a closing door forcing you to go another way. When you think about it, you just found a way not to do something. It opens you up to new ways of thinking and sets you up to reach success differently.
- You’ve chosen to let your past define your future. “It didn’t work out before, why would it now?” You can’t ask yourself that question at a different time in life from when it originally happened. Looking back at our past mistakes and regrets only sets us up to repeat them. Instead, know that each day will bring a new past to your future and you are in control of choosing what that is.
- We’ve outgrown who we are, but choose not to change into the person we need to be. It’s okay to not like the same things, do the same things, and be around the same people. You don’t have to wait for some huge life moment to reinvent yourself, and it’s never too late to do it. When you feel stuck, it’s because it’s time to shed who you were and create who you need to be. It’s not only okay to do that but neccessary to your personal development and happiness in the end.
Life will always deal us new cards and it’s important that we choose to play with the new deck we’re given and set the old one aside.
